LA. Land of Actors and Inmates

Los Angeles. The Land of Actors and Inmates. They move in coordination like synchronized swimmers or like a hive mind. Politicians like Schwarzenegger and Trump like to bribe the police into entrapping political activists so they can blackmail or chip them when in custody.

When actors wear an earpiece that feeds them information during a show, it's called an "ear prompter" or "earwig," and it essentially allows them to hear their lines or cues without having to fully memorize them, often used in situations where quick changes to the script might be needed or when large amounts of dialogue are involved.

Key points about ear prompters:
  • Function:
The earpiece receives audio signals from a dedicated device that plays the script, allowing the actor to hear their lines discreetly during a performance.
  • Use cases:
    • Live theater: Actors might use earpieces when dealing with complex dialogue or when last-minute script changes occur.
    • Television/Film: Sometimes used in situations where precise delivery is crucial, although it's generally considered less common due to the possibility of visible earpieces disrupting the shot.
  • Considerations:
    • Acting quality: Some critics argue that relying too heavily on earpieces can negatively impact an actor's natural performance and connection with the audience.
    • Technical aspects: The production crew needs to carefully manage the timing and delivery of lines through the earpiece to avoid disrupting the scene.
